Mobile device security is the complete protection of data available on smartphones, tablets, and laptops from threat.Majority of attack are aimed at mobile devices and as such, the security of personal and business information stored on mobile device is of huge importance to man.

Common Security Threat Associated With Mobile Devices

Malicious App and Website: This is a vector for distributing ransomware.Such app/website have intent of causing harm by unauthorized access to device system or data.

Mobile Ransomware: This is a type of malicious software designed to block access to or encrypt data on a mobile device, typically by displaying a random message demanding payment in exchange for restoring access.

Phishing: Cybercriminals deceives mobile device users through fraudulent emails, messages, or even fake website that mimic legal organization (such as banks, schools etc.) Into revealing sensitive information ( such as personal information, financial details, login credentials etc.)

Spam: This involves Mobile device users receiving unwanted messages, ads and offers for commercial purpose often in bulk to a large number of recipient with the primary goal of spreading malware or conducting phishing attacks.

Jailbreaking: This is the unlocking of software restriction, imposed by the manufacturer or operating system on device and thereby modifying the operating system.

MitM: Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attack occurs when an unwelcomed third party sneakily insert themselves into an online interaction thereby eavesdropping on a private conversation.

Preventive Measures Of Threat On Mobile Devices. 

To protect against threat such as malicious app; it is essential to download app from official app store (such as Google play store,Apple store etc).

Avoid clicking of unknown links in emails or messages.

Keep your device and software up to date with the latest security patches.

Biometric Authentication and password protection.

Regular data backup.

Mobile device security policy enforcement.
Mobile device encryption.

Consider installing antivirus software to scan for and remove malware from your device.
